Police said they received a call at 4.41pm informing them of an incident on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) in the direction of Changi Airport. The Singapore Civil Defence Force dispatched an ambulance to the location and the motorcyclist, a 25-year-old male was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

The accident caused a massive traffic jam along the PIE. The Land Transport Authority first tweeted at 4.47pm that there was congestion before Kallang Way to the Upper Bukit Timah Road exit. Up till 8.45pm, road users tweeted that there was still slow traffic due to the accident.
However, a video taken from the rear view camera of a vehicle that was travelling along the PIE when the incident happened, showed that it wasn't the truck driver's fault as the crash was caused by the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
