It was just another day on the Internet for us at Mothership.sg until we came across this:
Yup, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. It is indeed a book about Amos Yee, Singapore's most rebellious 16-year-old. Written by a person called Jason Venning, the e-book is apparently 26 pages long — guess that's all he could get about Yee's Brief History — and yet, he's charging £3.23 per e-copy. A quick Google informs us that translates to S$7.06.
It was also, according to its listing on Amazon.co.uk, published last Tuesday, September 15. It seems also that Venning didn't speak to Yee about the book, which the teenager discovered on Monday:

But hey, who knows — this really could be worth the money. Let's see the sample section of the book, which we reproduce here:
1. First, the author starts with a ramble about world-renowned statesmen, dropping names like Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Kennedy and Nelson Mandela.
2. Blah blah blah, and all of a sudden, in the middle of this, Singapore, and before you can wonder where Venning is going with this, a link is established:
We wonder what type of recognition Venning reckons Yee has among Singaporeans, though.
3. And now, an introduction into who Yee is, most skilfully done without even meeting, contacting or speaking to the protagonist of the book:
At least Venning sounds like he studied his YouTube videos.
4. He then demonstrates his sheer wisdom and knowledge about our "part of the world".
We can't wait to read what happens next! We're learning so much about ourselves in these precious paragraphs alone, how excited we are to learn more about ourselves from this wise foreigner!
In any case, Yee seems keen to meet this latest admirer of his. Evidently, Venning's writing career seems completely promising, given this undoubtedly stellar tome of a debut.
As confirmed by this early praise:
But all is not lost, for one reviewer genuinely found it useful:
