Typhoon Soudelor landed in China and Taiwan over the weekend and claimed at least 22 lives. Wind speeds were predicted by forecasters to be up to 200 km/h.

Videos of the chaos and destruction left by the typhoon have been shared widely online.

The most haunting one would probably be this video where an in-car camera filmed the moment a hatchback car was swallowed by a tornado:

The fate of the driver of the white car is unknown. CNN reported that the car landed 200 yards down the road.

A video compilation by Apple Daily News also show the brute strength of the winds lifting a scooter into the air and toppling a lorry:

Additionally, Asiaone reported that millions of people in Taiwan had muddy water coming out of their taps due to the typhoon washing soil into rivers.

It was reported that people were afraid to take showers or use tap water for cooking. While many turned to buying bottled water, that too was in short supply.

Taipei Water Department Deputy Commissioner Chen Man-li said that around 1.6 million households were affected by contaminated water and will be compensated. She added that the water from the water purification plant was tested and found to contain between 0.39 to 1 NTU (Nephelometric Turbidity Unit) yesterday at 7 a.m. and she appealed to the public not to hoard water anymore.

According to Chen, water is no longer classed as muddy when its turbidity level is under 5 NTU; and a score under 2 meets the national water quality standard.
