Ladies and jennermen, looks like Chen Tianwen's Unbelievable has finally met its match in the form of a SG50 music video full of materialistic excesses called Lingo Lingo Where You Go.
The real star of the video is not Tosh Zhang
nor boobs
but the incredulous lyrics penned by Tosh Zhang, B.E.C Bunz, Isukuta Wen Han and Shawn Tan.
[quipbox float="right" boxcolor="000000" boxhead="Louder than the Lambo"]
Meaning: A comparative expression that doesn't really mean anything. Commonly used by Millennials whose idea of Singapore is one of Lambos, Ferraris and private jets.
Example: "Wah your dressing is louder than the Lambo siol." or "Your lyrics louder than the Lambo sia."

That L to the I to the NGO
That word of the nation
Everybody knows
Straight outta Singapore
With our leh, lor, lah
Steady pom pi pi to
that eh wah eh wah eh wah
Behasa Melayu, Chinese, Tamil, English
Mix them together, tell me what you get?
Singlish
Variety of flavours
Like a bowl of rojak
So unique what we speak here in Singapura
Can you hear our echo?
Louder than the Lambo
Represent who we are
Our heartbeat and our soul
Where you go?
Lingo lingo
Where you go?
Lingo lingo
This Singlish of our own
Will you hold it closer or let it go?
Lingo lingo
Here we go
Lingo lingo
This city of our own
Let's show the world
This is Singapore
Boom boom boom oh oh x 2
Wassup lah leh loh
This is how we roll
Boom boom boom oh oh x 2
Walao you bojio
This that lingo lingo boom bap ish (Har? wut?)
Want the world to know
We represent that ish
5 stars and a crescent
On my flag that is
Red and white so bright
Burning up that is
So deep in the heartlands where we grew up
Northside Woodlands, can you stand up?
Westside Jurong, time to turn up
Eastside Pasir Ris, now put your hands up
Can you hear our echo?
Louder than the Lambo
Represent who we are
Close to my heart
Do you hear the echo?
Resonate with the world
Half a century old
Ready to glow
Where you go?
Lingo lingo
Where you go?
Lingo lingo
This Singlish of our own
Will you hold it closer or let it go?
Lingo lingo
Here we go
Lingo lingo
This city of our own
Let's show the world
This is Singapore
Boom boom boom oh oh x 2
Wassup lah leh loh
This is how we roll
Boom boom boom oh oh x 2
Walao you bojio
I love my Singlish
Just like my Ferrari (We'd definitely love a Ferrari. If we have one!)
And my Mee Rebus, Teh Peng and Curry
You can't stop me
You better follow me
That's right
We are the people
The world should know
Hashtag
StyloMilo
Enjoy our show
Where you go?
Lingo lingo
Where you go?
Lingo lingo
This Singlish of our own
Will you hold it closer or let it go?
Lingo lingo
Here we go
Lingo lingo
This city of our own
Let's show the world
This is Singapore
Boom boom boom oh oh x 2
Wassup lah leh loh
This is how we roll
Boom boom boom oh oh x 2
SG50 (emphasis ours)
We're not certain what Lambo has got to do with Singlish but hey, it rhymes with echo! As someone who is fluent in Singlish - this song doesn't sound Singlish. It's like throwing in a bunch of random French words into a song and calling it a French song. Baguette, croissant, oui oui. Foux du Fa Fa. Non.
Also starring in the video is a bevy of Lambos and Ferraris which kinda made no sense at all because our national mode of transport is definitely the Bus or MRT.
Thus, it should be "Can you hear our echo. Louder than the train fault."
Despite having WTF lyrics, this video is gaining the eyeballs because of you know what.
Because of lens flares and lights. What else were you thinking?
And of course teenage heart throb Tosh Rock doing his thang.
We'd like to show you the entire video but it has been set to private.
H/T: Coconuts Singapore.
