Update Aug. 19, 7.10pm: NSP Acting Sec-Gen Hazel Poa told socio-political site The Online Citizen in a press statement that her "departure will not result in a situation of the party being leaderless". She would also "therefore not be contesting in the coming GE".
National Solidarity Party's (NSP) Acting Secretary-General Hazel Poa announced today that she has left the party.
The 45-year-old told Lianhe Zaobao that she quit today and will give a statement soon.
Poa told Channel NewsAsia that "the CEC of NSP decided to support Steve Chia’s request to contest in MacPherson SMC in a 3 cornered fight against WP and PAP. It was a decision I strongly disagreed with".

Back in 2013, Poa also asked to step down as NSP's Secretary-General citing health reasons.
She only replaced Tan Lam Siong as NSP's Secretary-General this June.
Below are some questions left unanswered by NSP:
1. Will NSP continue to commit to its earlier agreements during the horse-trading meetings?
2. Will Marine Parade GRC also see a three-way fight between PAP, WP and NSP?
3. What are Poa's plans this GE? Will she join former NSP Sec-Gen Jeannette Chong-Aruldoss at SPP? Afterall, both left Reform Party before the last GE to contest under the NSP banner.
