The People's Action Party (PAP) election grapevine is back!

In the last General Election (GE), Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong's MParader Facebook page was a treasure trove of political gossip, providing breaking news and scoops on potential PAP candidates.

Four years ago, ESM Goh was the one who first broke the news that got many Marine Parade residents excited:

It was a good teaser. Residents with elephant memories may recall that there were two SAF generals who stepped down — then Major-General Chan Chun Sing, and Brigadier-General Tan Chuan Jin — and likely wondered if one of them might be fielded as a PAP candidate in Marine Parade GRC.

At the last election, Goh also was first to share the news about MP Tin Pei Ling's candidacy and Senior Minister of State Matthias Yao's retirement:

This year, ESM Goh has been providing several breaking news nuggets to the mainstream media in consecutive days.

Yesterday, Goh made two pretty newsworthy announcements:

1) The new Marine Parade GRC line-up of Minister Tan Chuan-Jin, MPs Seah Kian Peng, Fatimah Lateef, Edwin Tong and himself; and

2) that he is standing for GE again.

Today, Goh broke two more stories:

1) MP Tin will be fielded in MacPherson in coming GE; and

2) that she will not be attending the National Day Parade.

Which sometimes makes you wonder if we still need to read the mainstream media to help us make sense of news in Singapore.
