Bright and early on Wednesday morning, hardworking reporters at The Straits Times and Channel NewsAsia started camping outside the Elections Department to see who would show up to collect nomination papers.

And they came back with this glorious find:

Reporter: What issues will you be, er, you know, fighting for?

Uber driver: Er, most likely transportation.

Reporter: Is this the first time that you are nominating yourself or have you been in other elections?

Uber driver: Erm no.

Reporter: And why do you actually want to join in this elections this time?

Uber driver: Because I hope to be elected.

Reporter: What do you think you can offer the people, the residents... the Singaporeans?

Uber driver: Erm, policies. That's my strength I believe.

(By the way, the current MP at Bukit Panjang is "Mr Town Council" Teo Ho Pin. The Singapore Democratic Party is looking to contest the ward, so our policyman friend here will set them up for a three-way fight.)

September 1 looks set to be a fun day indeed.
