FAS can't even get the right photo in tribute to late legend Quah Kim Swee

We don't have any words left for this epic screw-up.

Seriously, we're starting to think the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) simply can't get anything right.

Thanks to The Straits Times, we have learned that our favourite football organisation successfully botched, of all things, a tribute to one of the nation's greatest strikers — Quah Kim Swee, who single-handedly scored six out of the 11 goals in the legendary 1963 Malaya Cup match against Pahang.

And you know how significant a player he was in Singapore's football history when even our Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam paid a lengthy tribute to him:

In this light, one would of course ask, how did that happen?!

So Quah's passing happened on Saturday, July 18.

And on Monday evening, a minute of silence was to be observed ahead of the start of the S-League match between Hougang United and the Courts Young Lions:

According to the paper, however, some buffoon put a photo of Quah's younger brother, Quah Kim Lye (who is still alive, by the way, as evidenced in this clip of him speaking to Channel NewsAsia at his brother's wake) in the tribute screen:

The eventual image doesn't show clearly that a photo of the wrong Quah was used, but ST's report said it sparked "confusion and anger among the 400-odd crowd".

Here's what S-League CEO Lim Chin said in response:

It was a very bad mistake and we regret it very much. I want to apologise on behalf of the S-League to the Quah family, and to all whom we have disappointed. We also wish to express our deepest condolences to Kim Swee's family and loved ones.

We are very sorry for what has happened. It was an error by a staff who, in a moment's confusion, selected the wrong photo. We have since counseled the staff, and we have apologised to the Quah family. In our Facebook posting, Lim Chin has also apologised to all who have been disappointed by this error.

You know what the best part is? We suspect that if ST hadn't picked up on it, it would have gone completely unnoticed.

Look at how the S-League folks covered the match, as well as their video highlights from it:

Now, let's not even talk about the fact that they can't even get their subject-verb agreement right, but if you decided to waste 30 seconds of your life clicking to the page, you would have realised that there was absolutely no mention whatsoever of the tribute to Quah's life.

Don't believe us? This five-minute, 39-second clip also shows a grand total of n o t h i n g about the minute of silence:

Now, if the late Quah really was as legendary as everyone's been saying — and we have no doubt of this fact at all — surely, even if it was botched, the tribute must have been worth being recorded for posterity by the league's official media??

Evidently, things don't work that way in Singapore.

Ok, to be fair, CEO of S.League Lim Chin did apologise this morning.

At this juncture, allow us to take a trip down memory lane. Back to Aug 2014.

The FAS paid tribute to former national captain Lee Kok Seng during a S.League match between Warriors FC and Tampines Rovers FC on August 29, 2014. And lo and behold, the tribute was rightfully shown in the video.

Because the Internet never forgets.

Man, we don't even have words for this epic screw-up. So we'll just leave you with a gif instead:
