His opponent? A world champion.

With such odds stacked heavily against him, it's little wonder why Silat exponent Muhammad Nur Alfian Juma'en was esctatic when he beat world champion Vietnam's Tran Dinh Nam in the tanding Class F (70-75kg) final on Sunday evening.

And as Majulah Singapura filled the Singapore Expo hall, Nur Alfian couldn't hold back any longer.

Their ambitious prediction of 80 gold medals was actually an underestimate.

That the 80th gold came after so much blood, sweat and tears. You couldn't write the script any better.
