The seventh edition of Pink Dot SG held on June 13, 2015, observed its largest turn-out yet, with more than 28,000 people attending the annual event that supports the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.
However, Pink Dot 2015 observed its lowest increase since 2010 (its second edition), with the community interest perhaps reaching saturation level.
Paerin Choa, Pink Dot SG Spokesperson, also acknowledged the set-backs faced by the community this year, highlighting examples such as the Court of Appeal upholding the constitutionality of Section 377a of the Penal Code to the censorship of Jolin’s Tsai’s same-sex music video.
Setbacks by Pink Dot organisers
First, Hotel Parkroyal on Pickering ceased its sponsorship, with the hotel spokesman telling Mumbrella that "the company would be spending its CSR investments on other causes".
Second, its Pink Dot 2015's ambassador Munah abruptly announced on Instagram yesterday (June, 13) that she would not be attending Pink Dot today.
The reason was her "jobs and appointment", according to her YouTube partner and fellow Pink Dot ambassador Hirzi's explanation at the Pink Dot press conference.
Nontheless, here are 7 Pink Dot SG gatherings in GIFs and photos over the years.
