9 Asian babies of Instagram to trigger your maternal and paternal instincts

Because babies.

Kintan Andanari| May 14, 12:32 PM

Although plagued by a Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of 1.25 in the physical world, Singapore is making up for the poor numbers in the online sphere.

The current baby-ogling wave sweeping across the island-state is making Singaporeans clicking, liking and stalking babies on Instagram.

To help you with your altruistic, benevolent pursuit of baby-stalking, Mothership.sg has carefully curated a list of babies adored locally.

1. Dashiel Marquet Sayre, 2 year-old.

If popularity were measured by the number of Instagram likes, then Dashiel takes the crown.

Claim to fame?

Abundant swag and coolness

Also happens to be the son of a certain Wendy Cheng.

2. Tyler Huan, 18 month-old.

Although not as well-known as his babyratti peers, this toddler is big on the "runway", having bagged at least five modelling jobs.

Blogshop modelling starts early everybody!

He also dons snapbacks, just like the average scene kid in Singapore.

Cineleisure welcomes you with open arms, Tyler.

3. Meredith Tan, 2 month-old.

Meredith Tan, child of blogger Qiu Qiu, barely crossed the two-month mark, but already has 26.2 k followers on her instagram account @meregoround, with each picture garnering approximately 4.5 k likes.

Admittedly, her charm draws from her ability to capture the everyday struggle of a mortal.

Who looks (semi) unglamorous while ~excreting~

Wow, you are just like us mortals!

4. Elroy, 7-month-old.

Another butterball popular in the online sphere is Elroy, none other than blogger Tammy Tay's son.

Notice a trend? We are not quite sure if being a blogger’s child guarantees good looks or maximum exposure, but these babies still receive an outpouring of love anyway.

Babies from other countries also compete for our attention, because what’s Singapore without a little competition.

1. Song Daehan, Song Minguk, Song Manse, 3 year-old. (South Korea)

The Song triplets rose from obscurity last year, when they were casted for the Korean reality show The Return of Superman. The show focuses on celebrity dads handling (or mishandling) their children...

act cute,

and become little casanovas.

Song Manse is barely 3, but has probably more game than you ever will.

Singaporean girls are not immune to their charms, easily succumbing to their infectious joy and antics.

Case in point:

So Mediacorp, any chance of creating a thinly veiled, fertility rate-boosting reality show?

2. Lee Haru, 5 year-old. (South Korea)

The 6-year-old Korean toddler has amassed 1.3m followers since creating an Instagram account. Also a former cast member on The Return of Superman, she won our hearts through her thoughtful gestures.

She purportedly revitalised her father’s career, which took a halt when the rapper was falsely accused of forging his Stamford degree.

Because cute toddlers can obviously overturn people’s judgments.

When not on TV, she graces the covers of Harper's Bazaar

3. Fighter Tiah, 21 month-old. (Malaysia)

Malaysia-born Jude Maximus Tiah, more known by his moniker Fighter Tiah, is also making rounds among our local female population. His parents, blogger Audrey Ooi and businessman Timothy Tiah, had a very viral proposal video in 2011.

This baby is bestowed with magical powers, which include:

- The ability to write on his own blog at the tender age of 21 months.

-  Getting 500 rational and clear-thinking adults to comment ‘aye’ for a 54 seconds-long video.

- Having a cute face in general.

Life was not always rosy for Fighter, as his blogger mother suffered pre-eclampsia 28 weeks into the pregnancy, forcing her to deliver him 3 weeks later.

Being incubated in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for a month did not deter trolls from leaving hate comments

At least, the incident inspired the Singapore government to institute the Protection from Harrasment Act, the very same bill passed against SMRT Ltd Feedback.
