One of the most well-known socialites in Singapore, Jamie Chua, was featured in a Channel 8 variety show last night and she single-handedly upstaged the show's main purpose, which by the way is about celebrities donating personal effects for charity.
The hour-long show, of which more than half was dedicated to the 40-year-old's collection of branded stuff, made peasants like us wonder: "Why would anyone buy 200 Hermès bags?"
But that's not the point.
The point is we cannot afford them.
The cheapest in her collection, a so-small-we-are-not-sure-what-it-can-hold bag, costs $5,500.
The most valuable one? The Hermès Himalayan crocodile Birkin bag which she bought for $300,000. She told the hosts that it costs some $500,000 now.
Here's the equivalent of an HDB flat.
