For the uninitiated, Tripitaka is the peace-loving monk that the Monkey King Sun Wu Kong was supposed to protect and escort in the Journey to the West story.
Where the Monkey King was impatient, petulant, always eager to solve problems through action, and raring for adventure, Tripitaka was the calming and patient counter to Monkey King's antics. Most of the time, you can't help but feel that Tripitaka was a real Debbie Downer and wet blanket.
That's why these photoshopped pictures from Weibo user 青红造了个白 are so irritatingly good (captions by Mothership.sg):
I'm sorry M is gone. But I can introduce you to MK.
I am no mutant, but I can chant something and make this metal crown tighten around this monkey's head. Magneto, will you be my friend?
Maybe if you just professed your love to him when you had hundreds of opportunities you wouldn't be sitting here crying and talking to a monk.
I... refuse.
Hey. I've got a contract for you, but you have to travel west with me first.
The name's Tripitaka. All Ts are not silent.
Man in bat suit, you need to get your throat checked out.
And here's a bonus video for all fans of the 1983 version of Journey to the West:
