If Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong were to craft a listicle for his New Year Day Message, it would have been "Four moments that stood out for PM Lee in 2015".

It was a unique annual message delivered by the PM.

The message usually focuses on Singapore’s economic performance for the year. But this is the first time that PM Lee did not mention any GDP figures in his message.

PM Lee said that the four memorable memories showed the world and Singaporeans "what a determined and united people can do" and "why Singa¬pore is a shining red dot".

As SG50 ends, PM Lee said that the next journey can be as exciting as the first 50 years.

Anyway, below are his four memorable moments of 2015:

1. Passing of founding PM Lee Kuan Yew: When Singaporeans sent off the late Mr Lee on March 29, PM Lee was "deeply moved to see everyone’s faces – drenched, grieving, but not downcast".

2. SG50 celebrations: Over three days in the weekend of July 4, PM Lee attended five events that reflected the diversity of Singapore society and her racial and religious harmony. They were an SG50 Catholic mass; the Jubilee Day of Prayer organised by Protestant churches; a Harmony in Diversity concert organised by the Taoist Federation and New Creation Church; and two iftars.

3. NDP Celebrations: PM Lee celebrated Singapore Golden Jubilee at the Padang on August 9 and recalled the loudest cheers given to Singapore's pioneer soldiers as they marched past.

4. General Elections (GE): PM Lee "felt gratified and happy that voters had delivered a big win for Singapore" on 11 September 11, the polling day of the GE.  At the Toa Payoh Stadium, he took a photo of a supporter who had brought her baby along to share the historic moment, which encapsulated what the GE was about – our people and our future.
