What a heartwarming bilateral relations story.

Car owner Joe Ong from Singapore had left his white Honda Civic at a car wash near KSL City Mall in Johor Baru at around 6pm on July 5.

However, he was told that his car had been driven off by his "friends" at around 6.30pm when he returned to collect it at 10pm.

A credit card, which was in the car, was used twice.

How the car was lost and recovered was recounted by the car owner's brother Eric Ong on Facebook.

On July 7, he acknowledged that the "chances of retrieving the car is slim" but then the miraculous thing happened a few weeks later: On Saturday, July 25, people alerted Joe Ong to the video of a car that was driving off after failing to pay for petrol in Port Dickson.

Ong recognised his car even though the car number plate had been changed.

On Sunday July 26, 2015, the car was next spotted in Malacca.

It was reportedly seen near a school, and a mall, and then parked at the Herald Hotel. A police report was made, according to The Straits Times reporting off a China Press report.

Eric Ong posted another appeal on Facebook seeking help from anyone in the area to intercept the car and its driver.
