A view of Changi Airport you've never seen before — and it's amazing

For the first time, check out the view that our air traffic controllers enjoy daily.

The Changi Control Tower is a Singaporean icon. It is the symbol of Singapore's crown jewel, and often used as one of the key images of our little, snazzy red dot.

Built alongside Changi Airport's first terminal, with its original two runways, it started running on July 1, 1981. Today, air traffic controllers guide more than 900 flights in and out of Singapore a day, and some 6,700 flights every week — every 90 seconds, there is a plane taking off or landing at the airport.

It stands at 78 metres in height, and the "cupcake" at the top, where some 300 Air Traffic Controllers work on round-the-clock shift, has 16 sides of panelled glass all round.

It is from this never-before-seen position that the folks at Changi Airport bring us this amazing time-lapse video of all 360 degrees of the nation's long-standing pride and joy in aviation.
