"You best lah," K-pop idol Cha Eunwoo told his fans during his concert on Apr. 13. His compliment was met with shrill cheers from the crowd.
The singer was in Singapore as a part of his tour "2024 Just One 10 Minute: Mystery Elevator".
During a question-and-answer segment, the idol learnt various Singlish phrases such as "aiyoh, "shiok" and "wah lau eh".

In particular, his attempt at "aiyoh", packed with aegyo (a kind of cuteness or charm), sent the crowd swooning.
He also mentioned his eagerness to try local dishes such as black pepper crab and chicken rice.
The emcee then helpfully introduced the phrase "shiok" to Cha as the equivalent to Korean phrase mashisoyeo (delicious).
The emcee added that the phrase could also be used to describe his enjoyable time in Singapore.
Lastly, Cha picked up the phrase "wa lau eh", which the emcee told him was an expression to use when he felt troubled.

Encouraging him to repeat the phrase in a more angry manner, Cha delivered the line with an expression so convincing you could have mistaken him for a local, prompting applause from his fans.
"I think you've become Singaporean already," the emcee said.
Indeed. You best lah.
