Singaporeans going to Bali, Indonesia, can now use the airport's automated gates to enter the island.
Immigration process takes 15 to 20 seconds
Indonesian Director-General of immigration Silmy Karim inaugurated the 30 new automated gates at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport's international arrival terminal in March 2024.
The automated gates incorporate face recognition and border control management technology to expedite immigration without the need for immigration officers, Antara News reported.
The immigration process will reportedly take 15 to 20 seconds for each traveller, according to the Ngurah Rai Immigration's Instagram post.

Besides Singaporeans, travellers from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Timor Leste can also use the automated gates when arriving at Bali's airport.
To use the automated gates, travellers need only register online on Indonesia's Immigration website, where they are required to submit information and photos of themselves and their passports.
Additionally, travellers going to Bali with an e-VOA (Visa on Arrival) or e-Visa can also use the autogates. They have to be over 14 and have an electronic passport and a valid visa.
Local authorities said they aim to add 50 more automated gates in the future, so there will be a total of 60 for arrivals and 20 for departures.
