While going out to a restaurant to celebrate special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries isn't uncommon, one group of restaurants is offering patrons the opportunity to "celebrate" another special occasion.

A divorce.

When making reservations for The Proper Concepts Collective restaurants, diners can select "divorce" under the special occasion section.

The restaurants that offer this special occasion are Mexican-Indian restaurant Ms Maria & Mr Singh, sushi and sake bar Rappu, and steakhouse The Feather Blade.

Other special occasions diners can celebrate in these restaurants are anniversaries, birthdays, bachelorette parties and engagements.

Been an option since 2022

The Proper Concepts Collective told Mothership that their group began offering a divorce as a special occasion after launching Ms Maria & Mr Singh in Singapore in 2022.

"The inspiration behind the choice is the Mexican dish, Huevos Divorciados, which consists of separated eggs."

Huevos Divorciados translates to divorced eggs, which are fried eggs with red and green salsa.

To mark the divorce, diners would also receive either celebratory shots or a dessert as long as diners specify "divorce" under the special occasion section on the reservation page.

The Proper Concepts Collective also shared that no specific verification process is in place to check diners' divorce claims.

"We rely on the honesty of our diners."
