Despite falling sick during his JJ20 World Tour in the Chinese city of Chengdu, Singaporean Mandopop singer JJ Lin decided to push through with his two shows as usual.

Lin's concerts at Chengdu, which took place on Mar. 9 and 10, 2024, were also his first shows of the year.

As a result of his illness, Lin had to undergo glucose and oxygen treatment in an ambulance during the mid-concert break of his second show, according to a Vlog uploaded by Lin on his YouTube page on Mar. 14.

For now, the singer appeared to be still in the midst of recovering from his illness.

Lin is scheduled to perform in the Chinese city of Hangzhou this coming weekend, on Mar. 16 and 17.

Caught a cold in Chengdu

In the Vlog of his concerts in Chengdu, Lin shared that he had caught a “slight flu” a while back before arriving in the Chinese city.

While he had recovered from the flu, the singer caught another cold upon reaching Chengdu, which caused his entire body to ache.

After he woke up the next morning, Lin said he began experiencing fever symptoms, including chills.

His voice was also affected, as he couldn’t even “make a sound” during the rehearsal before his first show on Mar. 9 evening.

Nevertheless, the singer decided to march on after his voice was partially recovered from taking medications:

"I don't know what the situation will be like when I'm on stage. Let's hit one out of the park. Make it happen. Don't think about it anymore."

Fever symptoms persisted

After his first concert, Lin paid a visit to a hospital where he received an IV fluid drip.

The next day, as his fever symptoms persisted, Lin found himself unable to sing the falsetto parts of his songs.

As such, he decided to follow his doctor’s advice, which resulted in him rushing offstage during the mid-concert break of his second show so that he could receive treatment in an ambulance and continue performing for his audience afterwards.

Thanked fans for their support

Knowing the condition of his voice, Lin also apologised to his fans at the start of his second concert onstage on Mar. 10:

"[This is a] live performance that you have been waiting to hear, but today I cannot deliver the best, so I am sorry for that."

In a follow-up Weibo post on Mar. 11, Lin expressed his gratitude for his fans as well, saying that they had motivated him to "keep going".

“Everything in my body was telling me not to get on stage, but my heart was clear — the stage is my home, and I will sing till the end even if it’s my very last breath,” wrote Lin.
