The corpse of a 28-year-old man was found in Block 47 Owen Road flat on Feb. 3.

Readers told Shin Min Daily News that they noticed a foul smell coming from the man's house.

Speaking to Shin Min, the police said that they had received a report of an unnatural death.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Mothership that they received a call for assistance at about 5:30pm on Feb. 3, and that the SCDF's assistance was not required upon arrival.

The police have ruled out murder.

Strong smell of decay: reporters

Shin Min reporters at the scene observed that there were three police officers stationed outside the unit on Feb. 3.

They added that there was a strong smell of decay.

Officers were present until around 11pm, when they moved the body.

An 80-year-old neighbour told reporters that the deceased was tall and was well-built.

However, he rarely communicated with neighbours due to a language barrier.

The neighbour said that the man had lived there for about two years.

While the deceased is believed to have lived with his father, neighbours shared that they had not seen the older man for about eight months.

The neighbour added that the man's mother stays in Choa Chu Kang, and surmised that the older man might have moved in with her.
