Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, 44, and singer Wang Feng, 52, announced that they have decided to end their marriage of eight years.

They have two children — a daughter who turns eight in December and a son who turned three in January 2023.

They posted the same statement on each of their respective Weibo accounts on Oct. 23, 2023.

In the statement, they stated that they made the decision after "careful consideration".

They wrote:

"We had a blissful marriage. Over the eight years, we looked after our family members, nurtured our children, and led happy lives built on love.

Between us, there's no right and wrong; Us going our separate ways doesn't mean that there was any betrayal. This was a decision made jointly by two adults, and we hope that everyone will understand and support us.

The ups and downs of life can't be judged simply. We're using a different method to allow each other to grow better, and our split will not make us love our children any less."

In their statement, they also shared that they will raise their children together and "will remain as parents that [their] children trust the most".

Zhang and Wang mentioned that they will not be commenting further on their divorce.
