The woman who verbally abused a Singapore General Hospital (SGH) staff pleaded guilty in court on Oct. 25, 2023.

Han Feizi, 29, was charged on Oct. 13, 2023, with a total of six charges, and was handed another two manpower-related charges on Oct. 24, 2023.

The eight charges against her are as follows:

  • One count of public nuisance;
  • Two counts of using abusive language against public service worker or public servant;
  • Two counts of assaulting or using criminal force on security officer;
  • One count of intentionally causing harassment; and
  • Two counts under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

Han was charged in court after videos showing her arguing with a female police officer in plain clothes at SGH went viral online.

Drank alcohol before both incidents

Han, who appeared in court through video link on Oct. 25, 2023 pleaded guilty to five charges, with the other three taken into consideration for sentencing.

"The Sail" incident

According to the prosecution, around 10pm on Oct. 3, 2023 a male security supervisor of The Sail at Marina Bay along Marina Boulevard called the police about a "drunk resident" who needed assistance.

The security supervisor had found Han squatting in a common area in the condo.

Han told the security supervisor that drank a bottle of "young alcohol" and was "drunk".

After verifying that she was a resident, the security supervisor and his female colleague helped Han back to her unit.

While waiting for the lift, Han turned aggressive, pointing her finger at the male security supervisor.

In the lift, she used her hand to push the security supervisor's neck and hurled vulgarities at him.

She continued to hurl vulgarities and pushed the security supervisor in the chest area when the trio were near her unit at The Sail.

SGH incident

The court heard that the incident in SGH occurred at around 2:35am on Oct. 10, 2023.

Han was dropped off at SGH by a private hire driver, whom she claimed had run over her foot.

After sitting in a wheelchair, she started screaming, saying the private hire driver had abandoned her.

When handed a mask and asked to wear it, Han threw it on the floor.

She also shouted vulgarities.

Han admitted that she drank "young alcohol" before the incident.

Came to Singapore to "have fun"

According to the prosecution, Han was arrested on Oct. 11, 2023.

On the same day, the Ministry of Manpower received information about Han from the police on possible contraventions of the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

Investigations showed that Han applied for a work permit in August 2023 after her student pass was rejected.

She declared she would be working as a clerk but never worked as a clerk at all.

The MOM prosecutor said Han essentially only wanted to enter Singapore "to have fun".

The work pass application was her attempt to circumvent Singapore's immigration framework, the MOM prosecutor added.

She filled up the work pass application "without attempting to understand its contents", which were in English.

Came to Singapore to "have fun"

Han pleaded guilty to making a false declaration in her work permit application and the four following charges:

  • One count of using criminal force by pushing the security officer;
  • One count of causing alarm by using abusive words to the security officer;
  • One count of public nuisance by complaining loudly and screaming at SGH A&E;
  • One count of using abusive language by verbally abusing a SGH staff; and
  • One count of false declaration in her work permit application.

The three other charges were taken into consideration.
