A Tower Transit Singapore driver was suspended pending a full investigation after he allegedly yelled vulgarities at an 11-year-old girl whose arm got caught between the bus doors.

The girl's mother shared on Facebook that her daughter took bus 106 from her primary school to Bukit Batok interchange.

She said her daughter's arm got caught between the bus doors.

While she "bellowed in pain", the driver purportedly "hurled vulgarities".

Bus driver hurled vulgarities at commuters

In her post, the girl's mother said she was heartbroken when she saw her "visibly shaken daughter" at the bus interchange.

A woman who followed the girl to ensure she was doing fine recounted what happened on the bus to her mother.

The mother was told that the girl's arm was trapped by the bus door.

Commuters who saw what happened shouted at the bus driver to open the door.

However, when he "finally" did, instead of apologising, the driver allegedly hurled vulgarities at the commuters, screaming at the top of his lungs.

After learning what happened to the girl, the mother wanted to confront the driver, but the girl begged her not to, saying he was "very fierce and would kill" her.

The mother said her daughter was still "in shock" several hours after the incident and had her arm bruised with light abrasion.

"I am appalled by this belligerent act of the bus driver. Surely the code of conduct does not include 'berating customers with vulgarities'," she wrote.

Tower Transit suspends driver pending full investigation

Many netizens in the comment section advised the mother to report the incident to the bus company.

Tower Transit also left a comment on the mother's post.

"We're so sorry to hear that this is happened to Ethel. The bus captain's behaviour you described is completely unacceptable," the bus company wrote.

Responding to Mothership's queries, Tower Transit shared that the bus captain involved has been suspended pending a full investigation.

They also contacted the passenger's mother to offer their sincere apologies.

"His outburst, lack of compassion and disregard for the passenger whose arm was caught in between the doors are completely unacceptable. He will be disciplined," Tower Transit said.
