Orchard Road will be decked out in its festive finest from Nov. 16 for the annual Christmas light-up.
This year's decorations mimic a "cotton candy cloud dreamscape", and will feature white, yellow, pink and turquoise LED "clouds", according to an Orchard Road Business Association press release.
What's new this year is the addition of one more Great Christmas Village, for a total of three such villages. There will also be a Christmas countdown party along Orchard Road.
Great Christmas Villages
This year, the Great Christmas Villages will be located outside:
- Shaw House, from Nov. 24
- Ngee Ann City, from Dec. 8
- Plaza Singapura, from Dec. 1
This will be the first time that the latter has hosted a village.
The village outside Shaw House will feature a double-storey carousel and ferris wheel.
The one outside Ngee Ann City will have a Euro Swing ride, an arcade and food trucks, while the Plaza Singapura instalment will have a giant bouncy castle and balloon dome.
Outdoor AR projections
There will also be outdoor AR projections on the façade of Hilton Singapore Orchard.
Apart from 3D projections, the display will also featureRube Goldberg machines that set off chain reactions when specific contraptions are activated.
There will also be a total of 25 glass panels along the pedestrian walkway from ION Orchard to Mandarin Gallery with AR displays.
All AR displays will be switched on from Nov. 1 to Jan. 1, 2024.
On the eve of both Christmas and New Year, a clock will be displayed to add on to the festive mood.
