The charred remains of a 62-year-old Singaporean man were found inside a burning Nissan Alemera vehicle at Jalan Pekeliling Industrial Park in Johor, Malaysia on the morning of Oct. 23.

The vehicle was believed to have lost control before it hit a tree on the side of the road and burst into flames, said Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Station's operations commander, Sarhan Akmal Mohamad, according to Bernama.

Authority had problems identifying the body initially

After being alerted to the accident at around 11:13am on Monday, the station deployed around 10 firefighters to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters doused the fire and extricated the man's burnt body from the vehicle using a rescue tool.

His remains were subsequently handed to the police for further investigation, according to Sarhan.

At first, the authorities had problems identifying the deceased's gender as identification documents were also burnt, reported The Star.

The man's gender, age, and nationality were later revealed to China Press by the Malaysian police, who cited Seri Alam district police chief Mohd Suhaimi Ishak, and added that the deceased's remains had been sent to Sultan Ismail Hospital.
