Man, 38, allegedly mugs another man in Geylang back alley, arrested within 12 hours

The victim suffered minor injuries and was sent to the hospital.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested by the police for his suspected involvement in a Geylang mugging case.

The incident

According to a Singapore Police Force (SPF) news release, police were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt on Aug. 31 at 11.54pm.

This took place at the back lane of Lorong 41 Geylang.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man had allegedly assaulted another man and robbed him of a number of items, such as cash, a mobile phone, and a phone cover containing his work permit and ez-link card.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was conveyed to the hospital.

Arrested within 12 hours

Officers from Bedok Police Division conducted ground enquiries to establish the identity of the man and arrested him within 12 hours of the report.

The stolen items, except for cash, were recovered.

The man will be charged in court on Sep. 2 for the offence of robbery with hurt.

If found guilty, he could be imprisoned for between five to 20 years, and be given at least 12 strokes of the cane.
