A family of seven from Singapore had a rude shock on their trip to Johor Bahru.

After they had a two-hour dinner, they returned to their car and found that they had been robbed, reported Shin Min Daily News.

The backseat car window was smashed with a shirt hanger that was wrapped with a shirt, reported Stomp.

The shirt likely muffled the sound of the smashing window.

Cash amounting to RM570 (about S$165), a backpack, and a mobile phone inside the car were stolen.

The incident, which took place on Jul. 8 at about 6pm, happened at 16 Jalan Layang.

The victim told Stomp that she believed the thieves had been observing her family before they struck.

The family lodged a police report in JB.

"Our family often drives to Johor Bahru and has never encountered such a situation. I hope my experience can remind everyone not to leave valuables in the car," the victim told Shin Min.
