The first floor of The Woodleigh Mall was flooded on Sunday, Jun. 4 as a result of heavy rain that day.
According to videos seen by Shin Min Daily News, which were taken by staff working at the mall, the water level in the affected area was about ankle-deep.
A pool of rainwater was visible within the mall, including around the escalator.
Photos posted online showed water on the ground in the Starbucks outlet.Staff working there were using mops to clean up the water.
A manager from an apparel store told Shin Min that the rain started to seep into the mall at around 12:30pm.
Upon noticing the water, staff from nearby stores pulled out mops to remove the water.
As the store did not have enough mops, the manager bought new ones from a nearby shop.
Around 20 people mopped the floor together, including the cleaners, the manager recounted.
As the rain was quite heavy, the group had to mop for two hours from 12:30pm to 2:30pm and wait for the rain to subside before the floor started to dry.
The manager said: "Because of the water in the mall, our business that day was affected to a certain extent. We had to move our racks to places that weren't flooded to ensure they weren't soak in the water."
