Singapore Airlines is once again the World’s Best Airline, after losing to Qatar Airways last year.
The 2023 Skytrax World Airlines Awards were held in Paris on Jun. 20. Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, accepted the reward in Paris and had this to say about it:
“This award is a testament to the indomitable spirit of our people, who worked tirelessly and made many sacrifices to ensure that SIA was ready for the recovery in air travel.
That has allowed us to emerge stronger and fitter from the pandemic as a leading international airline.
We are very grateful to our customers for their enduring loyalty to and affection for Singapore Airlines. During the pandemic, their support and encouragement gave us the strength and determination to overcome the unprecedented challenges.
Today, as we recover from the pandemic, we are firmly committed to innovating and investing in industry-leading products and services, and ensuring that SIA continues to offer our customers a world-class travel experience.”
The Skytrax awards are based on the survey results of more than 20 million travellers from all over the world, who rated more than 325 airlines between Sep. 2022 and May 2023.
Other than “World’s Best Airline”, SIA also managed to clinch the top spot in four other categories, including “Best First Class Airline”, “Best First Class Comfort Amenities”, and “Best Airline in Asia”.
SIA, which managed to offset some of its pandemic losses by posting record profits this year, continues to improve its inflight service – look forward to free unlimited Wi-Fi across all cabin classes starting July this year.
Budget carrier Scoot, which is owned by SIA, also emerged a winner in this year’s award ceremony, being named “Best Long Haul Low-cost Airline” and ranked second in the “World’s Best Low-cost Airlines” category.
