While most 13- and 14-year-olds are busy drowning in homework, tests and school, 13-year-old Kyra Poh and 14-year-old Choo Yi Xuan are busy blazing a trail for Singapore at the world stage — in a wind tunnel.

Their super-slick creative stunt routine to the signature James Bond soundtrack scored them first place at the two-way artistic category in the 2016 Bodyflight World Challenge — the world's largest indoor skydiving competition — held in Bedfordshire, UK, late last week (April 1 and 2).

In the two-way speed category, the pair came in second, out of more than 100 competing teams.

This was their third successful outing to the championships — last year, they came in third in the two-way freefly open category, and in 2014, they placed fifth.

Watch their epic routine here:

Oh, and did we forget to mention that they're Guinness World Record holders, too?

Here are the records they hold:

- Most skydivers in a wind tunnel (Kyra Poh and Choo Yi Xuan, together with 11 others)

- Most number of 2-way hula hoop fly-throughs (49 fly-throughs, Kyra Poh & Choo Yi Xuan)

- Most number of 2-way reverse eagles (26 reverse eagles, Kyra Poh & Choo Yi Xuan)

- Most number of backward somersaults (68 somersaults, Kyra Poh)

We had a chat with the champions over email this week to get a little better-acquainted with them:

1. How long have you girls been doing indoor skydiving? (Do you do outdoor skydiving too?)

We have been indoor skydiving for about 5 years.

We learned about indoor skydiving by chance when Kyra’s mum was working with iFly Singapore on their advertising materials and we went down for a trial to be talents. We don’t practice outdoor skydiving simply because we’re too young.

Kyra has tried tandem once last year in Australia (the age for tandem skydiving is 12 in Australia), but that’s about it.

Anyway, there’s no drop zone in Singapore, and we need to train weekly rain or shine, so we don’t think that will happen anytime soon.

2. How did you meet and when did you start training together, and when competitively?

We met five years ago as we were both from Haig Girls’ School and were also swimming for the same club. After our advertising trials, our love for indoor skydiving started because it was so fun that we enjoyed doing it and wanted to spend more time in the wind tunnel.

And when Uncle Lawrence (Mr. Lawrence Koh, Managing Director of iFly Singapore) asked us if we could perform at iFly Singapore’s opening ceremony in 2011, we started training for that. And as we started to learn new things, that got us excited to want to learn more.

We only thought of doing it competitively when iFly Singapore held the Indoor Skydiving World Championships in 2012, and we started to realise that we were getting better and better at it.

And when Uncle Lawrence said we could take part in the overseas competitions, we worked even harder.

Competitions allow us to meet and learn from all the best flyers in the world, and to see how well we can do on the global level.

3. Were your parents always supportive of you both doing this, given that it is quite a dangerous sport?

Yes they are!

Our parents recognised our passion for indoor skydiving from the beginning and they have supported us since then. Our favourite thing about indoor skydiving is that it takes place in a controlled environment, so it is not dangerous as some people think it is.

In fact, our parents are pleased with the life skills we’ve gained through indoor skydiving.

We learn a lot about discipline and hard work during our trainings and we use that knowledge and apply it to our everyday lives to better manage our schedules such as school and family time.

4. Did either of you ever get injured from your training?

Like every sport, there will almost always be a time you push yourself a little too hard and feel a strain.

We are literally doing stunts in the tunnel, so there has definitely been times that we hit the glass or the net, but it wasn’t anything serious.

5. How did you both decide on James Bond as a song to do your routine to?

Kyra’s mum listened to the music with us and we chose it together. She wanted the music to allow us to make people smile to a track they are familiar with.

The idea of James Bond came about because she feels that we look really slick flying about in the tunnel. We want people to see how awesome our sport really is when you take it up seriously.

You know how you watch a James Bond movie and think WOAH that’s not possible.

It’s the same thing here. Indoor "Skydancing" (as some call it) is like something out of the movies, and everyone can actually do it.

6. Do you think you would want to pursue this full-time in future? What do you aspire to do when you finish school?

We love flying, are competing internationally and are already living our dreams so there’s not much of a need for us to think that far ahead.

We’re 13 & 14 years now, and are still studying, and have quite a long way more in school. Kyra is currently studying Visual Arts at School of the Arts (SOTA) while Yi Xuan trains in swimming at the Singapore Sports School.

We're sure we'll see more of these two younglings, and their exciting indoor skydiving routines, on the world stage in the years to come.

Singapore's indoor skydiving teens totally rocked the 2016 cha...Kyra Poh, 13, and Choo Yi Xuan, 14, are ranked second in the world of indoor skydiving for their mad skills. They represented Singapore recently with this James Bond routine.Full article here: http://bit.ly/1N0knc2[Video & photos courtesy of iFly Singapore]
