Many of you will be visiting your Muslim relatives and friends during the Hari Raya holidays. If you run out of time visiting all your friends, why not take a leaf out of the politicians' book (or Facebook)? Many are greeting their Muslim friends on Facebook. Below are 12 different examples to learn from:
1. Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim
Also in charge of hanging the ketupat.
2. Minister of State for Health and Manpower Amy Khor
If you cannot find a real ketupat like Minister Yaacob, borrow one from your child's Hari Raya classroom decorations.
3. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong
Greet your Muslim friends in both Malay and English.
4. Non-Constituency MP Gerald Giam
If you are not as well-versed in laungages like PM Lee, send your greetings at 12am midnight, just like how you wish friends during New Year's Eve. But Hari Raya is not a New Year for Muslims...
5. MP Chen Show Mao
But what if you are partying late at night on Wednesday ? Post about your 1-day fast at 4.44am.
6. MPs Teo Ho Pin, Vikram Nair and Seng Han Thong
Why not paste the banners on my residents' FB news feed? Maybe the residents did not notice them at their blocks.
7. DPM Teo Chee Hean
If the grassroots leaders did not send you a soft copy of your banner for your FB greeting, take a photo yourself.
8. Acting Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin
If the grassroots leaders did not send you a soft copy of your banner and you did not take a photo of it, borrow a Hari Raya photo from PM's FB. Remember to thank PM's photographer and highlight your friendship with him.
9. Minister of State Josephine Teo and MP Janil Puthucheary
The greeting can be short and sweet. Which can be re-used as a tweet.
10 MP Zainal Sapari
Unless your nephews and nieces are tweeting how strange Uncle Zainal is.
11. MP Fatimah Lateef
This FB greeting reminded one of an advertisement from Adam Khoo or Anthony Robbins.
12. Education Minister Heng Swee Keat
If you cannot greet in Malay or do not have a good Hari Raya photo, share a joke on FB.
We wish all Muslims readers Selmat Hari Raya Aidilfitri!
