Like some of us, PM Lee is travelling overseas this long weekend

It's for work, though, and he's likely to hang out with BFF Obama again.

Are you overseas (or travelling there) this long weekend?

This is also what Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is doing Saturday (Mar 26), but for work.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, he's going back to the United States for a couple of days (March 26 to April 2) after visiting the West Coast (California) during his birthday week (Feb 10 to Feb 16).

In New York, PM will attend a reception with Singaporeans there, and visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

And over in Washington DC, Lee will attend the 4th Nuclear Security Summit and meet Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen.

What is the Nuclear Summit?

The world summit was launched in 2010 by US President Barack Obama. This was after his 2009 speech in Czech Republic, when he announced an “international effort to secure vulnerable nuclear material around the world".

Leaders from more than 50 countries and international organisations are expected to attend the Summit.

PM invited for the fourth time

Singapore, as we all know, is not a nuclear power, but this will be the fourth time PM Lee is attending the summit after being invited on three previous occasions (2010, 2012 and 2014).

Maybe he is BFFs with Obama?

Incidentally, long-time Obama observer and Atlantic national, Jeffrey Goldberg, rated PM Lee highly in his March 18 analysis of President's relationship with other world leaders.

From warm (pink) to ice-cold (blue), PM is considered by Goldberg to be pink (PM Lee's favourite shirt colour), just behind Pope Francis, German chancellor Angela Merkel, and the Aussie and Brit PMs.

He also happens to have been placed ahead of Internet sensation and Obama's neighbour, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau...

... and Japanese PM Shinzo Abe.
