Step aside Japan hero and current number one Izwan Mahbud, Hassan Sunny is the new man of the moment.

U.K.-based The Telegraph placed the 32 year-old custodian at #18 on its list of the world's top 20 goalkeepers.

Such is the admiration The Telegraph has for him that he was placed ahead of well-known names like Cameroon international Idriss Carlos Kameni and England international Jack Butland, who came in #20 and #19 respectively.

And he is the only Asian goalkeeper to be on the list, edging out Australian and Valencia FC stopper Matthew Ryan.

Sunny has been capped by the national team 80 times in his career. He was part of the first eleven against Afghanistan in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier, where the Singapore team suffered a 2-1 defeat. He also previously played for local teams like Geylang United, Young Lions, Tampines Rovers, and Warriors, and became the first goalkeeper to win the S.League Player of the Year award in 2014.

He now plies his trade in Thailand with Army United Football Club.

According to The Straits Times, Sunny expressed surprise at his achievement:

"When I first saw the link on Facebook, I thought it was a belated April Fool's joke. After all, you can't trust everything you see online."

Well, this one's real as it gets. So milk it while you can, Sunny!
