A video has surfaced online showing how an inmate at a Malaysia prison made his escape.

Malaysia police are currently conducting a nationwide manhunt for the Pakistani detainee who escaped from Sungai Buloh Prison.

The 24-year-old man, identified as Mohammad Hassan, escaped from custody on Apr. 9, according to a statement by Malaysia authorities.

On Apr. 13, a user uploaded a 30-second clip to Facebook showing how the inmate escaped.

Dashed away

The incident occurred during a custody transfer at Sungai Buloh Prison following court proceedings in Shah Alam.

As the inmates in orange jumpsuits alighted from the back of a truck, one of them simply sprinted away to freedom.

Two officers gave chase, while a few others remained behind.

Manhunt

Mohammad Hassan is believed to be facing multiple charges, including offences related to sexual crimes against children, robbery, and immigration violations, Bernama reported.

Authorities said the inmate is considered dangerous and advised the public not to approach him due to the seriousness of the offences involved.

As of Apr. 12, Bernama reported that he is believed to still be in Malaysia.

The inmate was last seen wearing an orange t-shirt and black trousers.

Members of the public who have information on his whereabouts have been asked to contact the police immediately.

Police said the search operation has been intensified, involving multiple units, including the General Operations Force, Air Operations Force, and the Internal Security and Public Order Department, reported New Straits Times.

Border controls have also been tightened to prevent the suspect from leaving the country.

“The public safety situation remains under control, but vigilance is necessary,” Hafiz said in a statement.

He also urged the public not to spread unverified information, warning that speculation could interfere with ongoing investigations and cause unnecessary panic.
