Maisy Ho, daughter of late casino tycoon Stanley Ho, dies at 60 after illness
She had reportedly battled breast cancer for several years before her death.
Maisy Ho, executive director of Shun Tak Holdings and daughter of late Macau casino magnate Stanley Ho, has died at the age of 60.
Her family confirmed that she “passed away peacefully… surrounded by family,” according to a statement issued by her siblings.
Family confirms passing, asks for privacy
The announcement was issued jointly by her siblings, including Pansy Ho, Daisy Ho, Josie Ho and Lawrence Ho.
They described her as “our beloved sister” and thanked members of the public for their condolences, while requesting privacy during the mourning period, according to the family statement.
In a separate statement, Shun Tak Holdings also confirmed her passing and said she was accompanied by family members in her final moments.
Maisy Ho had reportedly been battling breast cancer for several years before her death, according to The Standard (Hong Kong).
Her family did not publicly disclose the cause of death in their official statement.
Hospital Authority says her contributions to public healthcare were significant
The Hong Kong Hospital Authority also expressed sorrow over her passing in a statement on Apr. 12.
Chairman Henry Fan said:
“Ms Ho was a distinguished figure in the business community and demonstrated great enthusiasm for public services.”
He added that she “cared deeply about the healthcare of the public, and frequently offered insightful and constructive advice for the enhancement of public hospital services.”
Maisy Ho has served on the Hospital Authority Board since December 2021 and became chairman of the Hospital Governing Committee of Shatin Hospital in Apr. 2023.
Alumni association also pays tribute
The Queen’s College Old Boys’ Association (QCOBA) said it was “deeply saddened” by news of her passing in a statement released on Apr. 12.
It added:
“We express our profound grief and extend our deepest condolences to her family.”
The association also noted that she attended the opening of the Stanley Ho Astronomical Observatory in 2019, a STEM education initiative linked to her father’s alma mater.
Longtime executive in Ho family business empire
Born in 1966, Maisy Ho was the third daughter of Stanley Ho and his second wife, Lucina Laam King-ying.
She graduated from Pepperdine University with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and psychology.
As an executive director at Shun Tak Holdings, she helped oversee the group’s portfolio spanning property, transport, hospitality and investment businesses across Hong Kong and Macau.
She was also active in public service, including roles with the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and the Equal Opportunities Commission, and was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2016.
