Indonesian boy, 6, runs onto road while calling for his mum, gets struck by truck

A six-year-old boy in Central Java, Indonesia, ran onto the road and got struck by a truck.

The boy was reportedly calling out for his mother when he suddenly dashed across the road in Wonosobo, Sin Chew Daily reported.

CCTV footage circulating online showed the child and another teenager apparently playing in the area, with the boy calling out for his mother before suddenly running across the road.

He was struck moments later by an oncoming heavy vehicle.

The video has since drawn widespread attention, with many expressing shock and sadness.

The boy reportedly survived, but sustained a broken leg and bleeding to the head.

According to local authorities, the incident occurred on Apr. 8 when the child suddenly ran out from a yard onto the road just as a truck was passing by.

Due to the extremely short distance, the driver was unable to react in time, making the collision unavoidable.

The driver has been taken in by the police, and police are investigating if the truck was travelling above the speed limit, and whether parental negligence was involved.

The accident allegedly occurred on a stretch of road with heavy traffic.
