S'pore DJ hospitalised after bacterial infection caused by internal bleeding from ruptured cyst

Yes 933 deejay Chen Qijia shared a medical episode that led to three weeks of hospitalisation leave.

Chen shared on Instagram that she had been experiencing "sharp, unusual period cramps" for the past year.

It got so bad that she could not even stand up straight.

Chen shared that not even oral painkillers worked, with her even throwing up in the middle of the night.

She said the pain started to affect her daily functioning, even gradually feeling like it was "taking control" of her life.

Chen only had the answer to what was wrong when her cyst ruptured.

She learnt that these ruptures are hard to prevent, and can happen to "healthy, ovulating women".

Nevertheless she encouraged people to not take these warning signs lightly, and seek treatment early.

While Chen is out of the hospital, she says she will be out of action till mid-April.
