Body of missing British backpacker, 25, found in elevator shaft of M'sia condo undergoing construction
Local police said there was no evidence of foul play.
The body of a missing 25-year-old British backpacker Jordan Johnson-Doyle was found on Jun. 5 in Malaysia in the elevator shaft of a Bangsar condominium that was under construction.
Johnson-Doyle, a software engineer, was previously reported missing on Jun. 2, while on a solo backpacking tour around Southeast Asia.
Body identified by uncle
Johnson-Doyle's uncle confirmed the identity of the body as that of his nephew's based on a tattoo on his body
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said in a statement that a post-mortem examination showed that the cause of death was a chest injury due to a fall from height, New Straits Times reported.
There was no evidence of foul play and the case has been classified as sudden death.
Family distraught
Search for Johnson-Doyle began after his family reported him missing.
His mother, Leanne Burnett, last spoke to her son on May 26.
She told The Daily Mail that she had used the Find My iPhone app, which showed his phone’s last location near a residential building close to Healy Mac’s Irish Bar in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur — the same area where he had previously sent her a photo.
She told the paper she had been feeling "sick and numb" and just wanted her son back home.
