Workers' Party (WP) secretary-general Pritam Singh and WP Chair Sylvia Lim unveiled new candidates Tan Khim Teck, Alexis Dang Pei Yuan, Low Wu Yang Andre, and Ong Lue Ping at the party's headquarters on Apr. 18, 2025.

Ong Lue Ping

Ong, 47, worked as a senior principal clinical psychologist at the Institute of Mental Health, where he worked closely with child and adolescent patients in the Child Guidance clinic to help with mood and anxiety disorders as well as autism spectrum disorders.

Ong is still a clinical psychologist at IMH, but has decided to step down from his leadership positions at the institute to avoid possible conflicts of interest.

The father of three has been with the party since Nov. 2023, working as a case writer in the Hougang Single Member Constituency (SMC) meet-the-people sessions and assisting in various community events.

Saying that he used to subscribe to the government's philosophy that "a rising tide lifts all boats", Ong said that after years of public service, he began to realise that this algorithm only works if all the boats are built the same and are selling in calm waters.

"But in reality, only the privileged in society get to sail," he said.

Low Wu Yang Andre

34-year-old Low started as a disputes lawyer in a large law firm before venturing out into the startup space, helping to build products in legal tech, urban mobility, and health tech.

A secretary assistant to Sengkang Member of Parliament (MP) Louis Chua, Tan's involvement with the party dates back about five years ago, after the 2020 General Election.

An only child to two MOE teachers, Tan said he was taught from a young age to embrace curiosity and ask questions of the world around him.

Jimmy Tan Khim Teck

Jimmy Tan Khim Teck, a 53-year-old sales manager, began volunteering with the party in 2018 and became legislative assistant to Singh earlier this year.

Tan said he envisions Singapore to have a more balanced political system with opposition representation.

"Because I truly believe nobody in particular, no political party has the monopoly of wisdom," he said.

Alexis Dang Pei Yuan

Dang, a senior director at a global advertising tech company, has been involved with the WP for the last five years, volunteering for house visits and Meet-the-People sessions.

Making a career switch from banking to tech in 2017, Dang said she experienced career transitions firsthand and knows the challenges.

"I truly believe that education and knowledge are the keys to social mobility, and that every child, regardless of their background, deserves a fair chance at discovering and nurturing their potential," she said.

Previous four new faces and a manifesto

On Apr. 17, the WP unveiled four new faces that would be competing in this year's General Election: Abdul Muhaimin Bin Abdul Malik, Kenneth Tiong, Siti Alia Binte Abdul Rahim Mattar, and Eileen Chong Pei Shan.

The party also launched its manifesto, which includes five sections and 125 policy proposals.

The first section includes measures to target affordability and cost-of-living concerns, the second covers economic growth and opportunities, the third addresses inclusion and equality within society, the fourth calls for greater levels of accountability and democracy in Singapore, and the fifth deals with security and geopolitics, with proposals for strengthening external and internal resilience.

Policy proposals include providing higher allowances for full-time NS men, strengthening food security, and lowering the voting age to 18.
