7 police officers chased after naked man, 22, who allegedly slashed man, 30, in Hougang
The man allegedly attacked the police officers with a wooden plank with nails, causing them to sustain minor injuries.
A video showing at least seven police officers chasing after a naked man in Hougang was uploaded to Xiaohongshu on Apr. 17 night.
Although the Xiaohongshu user did not specify when the video was taken, Mothership understands that the man was the 22-year-old who was arrested for allegedly slashing another man, 30, while naked along Hougang Avenue 8 on Thursday afternoon.
What video showed
In the video, the accused could be seen running against traffic along one side of the road while holding a wooden plank.
Several vehicles, including a bus, could be seen along the other side of the road.
When a police officer nearly caught up with him, the accused gestured towards the police officer and waved his wooden plank in the police officer's direction.
Although another police officer fell to the ground while chasing after the suspect, they managed to get up immediately and continued the pursuit.
Man resisted arrest
Upon reaching a zebra crossing, the suspect ran across the road.
This time, the police officer who had nearly caught up with him earlier managed to subdue him.
However, the accused resisted arrest by wrestling with the police officer and also making use of the wooden plank.
After four other police officers arrived at the scene, the accused abandoned the wooden plank and continued along the pedestrian walkway.
The video ended without showing the eventual arrest of the accused.
Police officers sustained injuries
In an earlier statement to Mothership, the Singapore Police Force said they received several calls for assistance regarding the naked man at around 1:10pm on Apr. 17.
After arriving at the scene, police officers saw the accused running around naked.
He had allegedly attacked a 30-year-old man earlier.
While police officers were arresting him, he allegedly attacked them with a wooden plank with nails, causing them to sustain minor injuries.
He was subsequently arrested for voluntarily causing hurt by grievous means and for voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from his duty.
A knife and a wooden plank with nails were seized as case exhibits.
Police investigations are ongoing.
As for the alleged victim, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said he was conveyed conscious to Sengkang General Hospital after SCDF received a call for assistance at Block 681 Hougang Avenue 8.
