Gan Siow Huang to defend her seat in Marymount SMC, up against PSP’s Jeffrey Khoo
The People's Action Party (PAP) is fielding incumbent Gan Siow Huang in Marymount SMC.
This was announced at a media event on Apr. 18.
Gan, a former brigadier-general who served as Chief of Staff in the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF), was elected in 2020.
Addressing the media at the event, anchor minister Chee Hong Tat said that Gan has been "doing a good job rejuvenating the estate for her residents and improving their lives through many programmes and activities".
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to serve residents in the past five years, Gan said, "The journey has been deeply meaningful for me."
"The last five years, we've introduced new community programmes. We've upgraded common infrastructure to make Marymount more inclusive and accessible.
Going forward, we know that our nation faces real economic and social challenges. I hope to have the opportunity to continue to work alongside Marymount residents and fellow Singaporeans. I hope that together, we can make every day a good day in Marymount and create a bright future for Singaporeans."
To go up against PSP's Jeffrey Khoo
Gan will be up against Progress Singapore Party’s (PSP) Jeffrey Khoo in Marymount SMC.
Khoo, 56, had previously contested in the 2020 General Election as a candidate in West Coast Group Representative Constituency (GRC).
He and Gan had met during a walkabout at Bishan North Shopping Mall on Apr. 12, with party chief Leong Mun Wai in attendance.
Khoo, a father of three, works in parametric insurance with years of leadership experience in some multinational companies.
