It's less than 24 hours to Nomination Day, but the People's Action Party (PAP) and Workers' Party (WP) have not revealed their candidates for key battleground constituencies.

The PAP's slates for Tanjong Pagar GRC, East Coast GRC, Punggol GRC, as well as Radin Mas and Queenstown SMCs are, as of now, still unknown.

The WP is employing the same strategy, but with a slight difference.

The party has introduced what appears to be its entire slate of candidates (even revealing old hats Yee Jenn Jong, Nathanial Koh, and Kenneth Foo on the eve of Nomination Day), but refused to reveal where the party is fielding them.

People's Action Party

There are four cabinet ministers whose names have been tipped to lead PAP teams in Tanjong Pagar GRC, East Coast GRC, Punggol GRC.

They are Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, Minister for Education Chan Chun Sing, and Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Edwin Tong.

When asked recently where he will be fielded, SM Teo said he is “available to contribute” in any way that PAP secretary-general Lawrence Wong sees fit.

Meanwhile, DPM Heng was spotted on walkabouts in East Coast GRC with new faces like Goh Pei Ming.

Tong, meanwhile, was present at the unveiling of the East Coast Plan website on Apr. 15.

The event was presented by Tong, Tan Kiat How, and Jessica Tan, with two new faces Hazlina Abdul Halim and Goh Pei Ming joining proceedings.

Workers' Party

The WP has not announced its line-ups for its constituencies, Hougang SMC and Aljunied GRC.

WP volunteers have been spotted in Jalan Kayu SMC.

Opposition party Red Dot United (RDU) has also confirmed that WP had indicated its interest in contesting Jalan Kayu SMC.

But aside from that, the biggest opposition party in Singapore has kept a pretty tight lid on things.

Looks like Singapore has an exciting Nomination Day to look forward to.
