Thia told Lianhe Zaobao that Sunny flew out of its cage as he tried to use an electric saw to fix the iron support.
Thia had a total of six sun parrots, but two, including Sunny, flew away.
He also told the Chinese media that he loves Sunny the most because of its beautiful feathers and its ability to "talk".
He said that he believed Sunny was still in the vicinity and would give the finder an angpao as reward.
Thia occasionally posts about his pet birds.
In an Instagram post on Mar. 12, Thia posted a photo of Sunny perched on a purple peg, with the caption:
"Good afternoon everyone, I'm very happy I have Sunny and Xiao Bai accompany me."
