S'poreans 40 & above can get S$300 monthly allowance for part-time training under SkillsFuture
To cover training-related expenses.
Singaporeans aged 40 and above will be able to get a training allowance of S$300 per month while pursuing part-time training under SkillsFuture.
A monthly allowance of up to S$3,000 was provided as part of the SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme (SFLP) for those taking time off work to pursue full-time training.
The extension of the training allowance is targeted at helping those who continue to work while pursuing training and help defray their training expenses.
The part-time training allowance will be implemented in early 2026, said Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong in his 2025 Budget statement.
SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance
The SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme (SFLP) was introduced in Budget 2024 to support mid-career Singaporeans aged 40 and above to upskill.
Eligible individuals who take time off work to pursue full-time long-form training are able to tap on SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance to partially offset the loss in income.
From March, individuals can apply for a training allowance of up to S$3,000 per month for selected full-time courses.
The amount of full-time training allowance is equivalent to 50 per cent of the individual's average income over the latest available 12-month period, capped at S$3,000 per month.
Allowance for part-time training
To better support those who wish to pursue substantive training on a part-time basis, the training allowance is now extended to selected part-time long-form training programmes.
This will help trainees defray incidental training expenses such as books, materials and transport.
The part-time training allowance will be fixed at S$300 per month.
Every individual can receive up to 24 months of the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Training Allowance throughout their lifetime.
This will be a shared lifetime cap of 24 months for both full-time and part-time training.
More details on the allowance, and the courses that will be covered, will be provided at the Ministry of Education's Committee of Supply.
