The walls of the original Golden Mile Complex have stood tall along 5001 Beach Road for about 51 years.

But even the most of iconic of structures succumb to the passage of time.

The new

If you're wondering what's next for the place, it's being transformed into a multi-purpose development.

This will include areas like offices, medical units, retail shops, and residences.

Mothership understands that the name of the residential estate will be "Aurea", but more details about it have yet to be released.

The stepped-terrace design of the original building will be preserved for its unique Brutalist architecture and historical and cultural significance.

This was after Golden Mile Complex was gazetted and bestowed the status of a conserved building in October 2023, after it was constructed in 1973.

Unofficial website

Anticipation for the new development has led to an unofficial website being created.

It stated that the former Golden Mile Complex will be turned into a condominium boasting about 186 units ranging from homey one-bedroom apartments to sprawling penthouses, along with a gym, clubhouse, playground, and BBQ area.

The site further described the "condominium" as an "iconic masterpiece that seamlessly blends history with modernity" which has "etched its mark in the annals of Singapore's architectural evolution".

It claimed that the estate will be open to residents by 2028.

Far East Organisation has since clarified that this is not an official website and more details will be announced in due time.
