China Street Fritters, which closed down before July 3, 2023 and moved out of Maxwell Food Centre, has reopened at Block 61 Telok Blangah Heights on Sep. 3 — exactly two months later.
Its reopening was shared by a customer on Facebook.
Good news: The stall in the new premises in a coffee shop is still helmed by the old-timer owners.
This is despite them previously attributing the food stall's demise to health issues, higher operating costs, as well as a lack of a successor and appreciation from the younger generation for traditional food.
A tentative plan was reportedly in the works before this move to hand over the business to other parties, but that apparently fell through due to interests that were not aligned.
The owners had tried to sell their business for S$1 million and then S$500,000, but there was also a lack of takers.
Current prices for the food have gone up slightly, but still remain affordable.
Bee hoon: S$1.20 (small), S$1.50 (large)
Egg slice: S$1.20
Bean curd: S$1
Fishball S$0.50
Sausage: S$3
Meat roll (ngoh hiang): S$1.20
Liver roll: S$1.20
All the food are made in-house at the stall itself.
According to the customer, a queue is expected.
