Japanese student Hana studies in Singapore and speaks fluent Malay.

In a TikTok video, she offered a snack to an owner of a Muslim stall located at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) while conversing with the owner in Malay.

If her name sounds familiar, Hana was the student that had to pay for her Grab ride in Ringgit.

Snack to break fast

In a video uploaded to TikTok (@hanae_nakaa) on Mar. 26, Hana could be seen approaching the stall at 7:45pm.

She greeted the auntie before wishing her a "happy break fast" in Malay before handing her a bar of Kit Kat.

The auntie could be seen thanking Hana with a big smile on her face while they continued to make small talk in Malay.

While Hana could speak the language, she had a bit of trouble catching what the auntie was saying at one point.

At the tail end of their conversation, the pair made heart gestures toward each other while laughing.
