Tim Hortons, the Canadian restaurant chain known for its coffee and doughnuts, is coming to Singapore.
Coming to Singapore
Japanese trading firm Marubeni Corporation announced the chain's upcoming expansion into Singapore in its Feb. 28, 2023 press release.
It stated that it has entered an exclusive agreement with Tim Hortons Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. through its wholly-owned Singapore-based subsidiary Marubeni Growth Capital Asia Pte. Ltd (MGCA) to bring Tim Hortons into the country.
Meanwhile, Marubeni is also in discussions to bring Tim Hortons to Malaysia and Indonesia.
MGCA said it plans to serve quality coffee and fresh food that would also be "tailored to local consumer tastes" while also providing "an international café experience" to customers.
No further details were given about when and where the first Tim Hortons outlet will open in Singapore.
First outlet opening towards end of the year
According to Nikkei Asia, however, coffee lovers in Singapore can look forward to the opening of Tim Hortons outlets in the fiscal year starting April 2023.
In response to Mothership's queries, a Marubeni spokesperson said the company plans to open the first Tim Hortons outlet in Singapore towards the end of 2023, adding that the location will be announced at a later date.
The spokesperson said customers in Singapore can expect to see the "basic menu" that is being offered in Canada's Tim Hortons, but there are also plans to develop a localised menu to suit locals' preferences.
With the upcoming expansion into Singapore, as well as Malaysia and Indonesia, Marubeni plans to open "hundreds" of new Tim Hortons outlets by 2033, the spokesperson said.
