Celebrate this mid-autumn festival differently at a 100-year-old colonial house at Temenggong Road on Sep. 11, 2022.
From riddles and poetry recitals, hands-on workshops to harmonious melodies, visitors can look forward to a variety of activities in the evening.
And yes, it's all free. Freeeee.
Festive activities
Here's the list of activities to look forward to:
- Poetry recital
- Calligraphy demonstration
- Lantern riddles
- Lantern-making workshops
- Mooncake-making demonstration
- Musical performances
Get involved in the lantern-making process by choosing to paint on traditional Teochew lanterns, or make your own cellophane lanterns from scratch.
In the same area, there's freshly made mooncakes you can try on the spot that's made by a pastry chef.
Adding to the festivities is a riddle booth where participants can win prizes by solving riddles.
The organisers have prepared 60 riddles in total, and those who can correctly arrive at an answer will take home a packet of Nanyang tea.
Performances by student musicians from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music add colour to the event.
To remember the night, bring home Chinese fans with an artful touch of calligraphy.
Exhibitions: Zen Room and a scholar's studio
Go back in time and relearn history by visiting the Scholar's Studio, which showcases exclusive artefacts from the Song, Ming and Qing dynasties.
Also stop by the Zen Room to view artefacts in an altar set-up that serves as offerings for the Moon Goddess.
Due to the sensitivity of the artefacts, no photography and videography are allowed in the exhibition rooms.
